PUBLIC HEARING
Public Hearing Notice
The Washington County Commission (Washington County Rural Public Transportation) is applying to the Alabama Department of Transportation for an Operational, Administration, Capital, and Planning assistance award under 49 U.S.C. Section 5311 of the Federal Transit Laws. This grant funding will provide financial assistance for public transportation service for the residents of Washington County.
The service is provided for general public and currently operates Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All residents, including mobility device users, must schedule 24 hours in advance. Fares range from $1.00 to $100.00 per one-way trip. No service or fare changes are planned for FY2025.
Copies of detailed budgets, and service description may be obtained via website, email request, and/or the Washington County Rural Public Transportation office.
This grant funding will provide federal financial assistance for Operational, Administration, Capital, and Planning Expenses. Capital funding will be used to purchase three (3) transit vehicles with mobility device securements.
A public hearing will be held on Monday, July 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the meeting room at the Washington County Courthouse, 45 Court Street, for public comment. If there are questions or comments or if information is needed in another language or alternative format, contact:

PUBLIC MEETING
Public Meeting
Regarding the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Program (CDBG-DR) Local Recovery Plan for Clarke County
Date: July 16, 2024
Time: The meeting will be hosted twice: 1:00 – 2:30 PM and 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Location: Clarke County Courthouse Commission Courtroom; 114 Court St; Grove Hill, AL 35451
Meeting type: Open to the Public
Meeting Agenda: The Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) has prepared a Local Recovery Plan (LRP) for the counties of Clarke, Dallas, Escambia, Marengo, Perry, Washington, and Wilcox in response to unmet needs from Hurricanes Sally and Zeta, which struck in 2020.
The LRP identifies disaster unmet needs, hazard mitigation needs, and potential project types for the 7 county region to be funded by Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds.
The meeting will include A presentation of ACCA’s Local Recovery Plan (LRP), as well as provide opportunity for input on unmet needs, hazards, and critical projects to address these needs in Clarke County.
